Before You Begin

Before starting the installation process, it is important to gather all the necessary tools and equipment. Here's a list of items you'll need:

• RGB+W DRL Upgrade kit
• Screwdriver set
• Heat gun or hairdryer
• Automotive adhesive (recommended: clear adhesive suitable for headlight lenses)
• Masking tape
• Clean cloth or microfiber towel
• Safety gloves
• Safety glasses

Ensure that your GT-R is parked in a safe and well-lit area, and have all the tools within easy reach.

Installation Process

Step 1: Headlight Removal

1. Open the hood of your Nissan GT-R and locate the headlight assembly.
2. Use the screwdriver set to remove the screws securing the headlight assembly to the vehicle.
3. Gently detach the headlight assembly from the mounting brackets and carefully place it on a clean and soft surface.
4. Inspect the headlight lens for any adhesive or sealant around its edges.

Step 2: Removing the Headlight Lens

1. To soften the adhesive holding the headlight lens in place, use a heat gun or hairdryer on low heat and apply heat evenly along the edges of the lens.
2. Once the adhesive has softened, carefully insert a flathead screwdriver between the lens and the headlight housing.
3. Slowly and gently pry the lens away from the housing, working your way around the perimeter.
4. Take your time to avoid any damage to the lens or housing.
5. Once the lens is fully detached, set it aside in a safe location.

Step 3: Installing the RGB+W DRL Upgrade

1. Take the RGB+W DRL Upgrade kit and identify the replacement boards.
2. Connect the wiring harness of the replacement boards to the corresponding connectors inside the headlight assembly. Ensure a secure and snug connection.
3. Use the provided zip ties to neatly organize and secure the wiring harness, avoiding any contact with moving parts or sharp edges.
4. Carefully position the replacement boards within the headlight assembly, ensuring they align properly with the mounting points.
5. Secure the replacement boards in place using the original retaining clips or screws.

Step 4: Wiring and Power Connection

1. Locate a suitable power source for the RGB+W DRL Upgrade. It is recommended to tap into the parking light circuit for seamless integration.
2. Use the wire cutters to carefully strip a small section of the insulation from the parking light circuit wire.
3. Take the RGB+W controller included in the kit and connect the power input wire to the stripped section of the parking light circuit wire.
4. Secure the connection using the wire crimpers and cover it with electrical tape for added protection against moisture.
5. Connect the ground wire from the RGB+W controller to a suitable grounding point within the engine bay. Ensure a clean and secure connection.
6. Route the wiring harness from the controller to the headlight assembly, carefully avoiding any moving parts or heat sources.
7. Connect the wiring harness from the replacement boards to the corresponding output ports controller.
8. Double-check all connections to ensure they are secure and free from any loose or exposed wires.

Step 5: Reinstalling the Headlight Lens

1. Clean the headlight lens and the headlight housing thoroughly to remove any dirt, debris, or residual adhesive.
2. Apply a thin, even layer of automotive adhesive (clear adhesive suitable for headlight lenses) to the edges of the headlight housing.
3. Carefully position the headlight lens over the housing, ensuring proper alignment.
4. Gently press the lens down, allowing the adhesive to bond with the housing.
5. Use masking tape to secure the lens in place while the adhesive sets. Apply tape around the edges of the lens, leaving no gaps.
6. Follow the adhesive manufacturer's instructions for curing time.

Step 6: Finalizing the Installation

1. Reattach the headlight assembly to the vehicle's mounting brackets using the screws removed in Step 2 of the Headlight Lens Removal section.
2. Close the hood of your Nissan GT-R.
3. Turn on the vehicle's ignition and test the functionality of the RGB+W DRL Upgrade.
4. Use your smartphone to scan the provided QR code on the backside of the controller, simply download it and cycle through different colors, patterns, and brightness levels to ensure everything is working correctly.
5. Adjust the headlight aim if necessary to ensure proper alignment and visibility.
