2014+ Mercedes-Benz C-Class (W205), A Class (176), CLA (C117) DRL board- INSTALLATION GUIDE

Installation for Various DRL Boards for Mercedes-Benz C-Class (2014-2021) and A-Class & CLA-Class (2016-2019)

This guide uses the C-Class as an example. For the A-Class & CLA-Class, the steps are similar. Enhance your Mercedes-Benz with our custom DRL boards by following this step-by-step installation guide.

Note: Always consult your vehicle's manual or seek professional assistance if you are unsure about any step. Our DRL LED boards are designed to fit only original headlights and are not suitable for aftermarket headlights.

Step-by-Step Installation Guide

Required Tools and Materials

  • Screwdriver
  • Plastic prying tool
  • New DRL boards
  • Jack or lift
  • Crimping tool (only for RGB+W variants)
  • Cable connectors (only for RGB+W variants)
  • Cable ties (only for RGB+W variants)
Step 1: Preparation
  1. Safely Park the Vehicle: Park the vehicle on a flat surface and turn off the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the Battery: Disconnect the battery to ensure a safe installation.
  3. Lift the Vehicle: Use a lift or a jack to raise the vehicle and access the wheel well cover.

Step 2: Accessing the DRL Module
  1. Remove the Wheel Well Cover: Use a large flathead screwdriver to turn the two locks so they face down.

Step 3: Removing the DRL Module
  1. Remove Torx Screws: Remove the three Torx screws holding the DRL module.
  2. Carefully Remove the Module: Carefully pull out the module as it is still connected with a plug.
  3. Disconnect the Plug: Disconnect the plug to fully remove the module/heat sink.

Step 4: Installing the New DRL Boards
  1. Connect the New DRL Board: Attach the new DRL board to the existing connector.
  2. Install the Heat Sink: Place the heat sink back into the housing and secure it with screws.

Step 5: Wiring and Connection (Only for RGB+W Variants)
  1. Install the Bluetooth Module: Install the Bluetooth module for controlling the RGB+W DRL boards.
  2. Remove Ground Post: Remove the factory ground jump post using a screwdriver or pliers.
  3. Attach the Ground Wire of the Bluetooth Module: Place the ground wire on the corresponding stud and secure it with a nut.
  4. Connect the Positive Cable: Attach the positive cable of the Bluetooth module to the battery cable by opening the positive terminal cover, loosening the positive clamp, and securing the cable.
  5. Connect DRL Boards to the Bluetooth Module: Connect the DRL boards to the Bluetooth module.
  6. Route the Extension Cables: Run the extension cables through the engine bay and secure them with cable ties.
  7. Secure Cable Connections: Ensure all cables are neatly routed and securely fastened.

Step 6: Reconnect and Test
  1. Reconnect Electrical Connections: Reconnect the electrical connections of the headlights.
  2. Test the DRL Boards: Turn on the ignition and test the new DRL boards. Use the app to check colors and modes (only for RGB+W variants).

Step 7: Reassembly and Final Check
  1. Reattach the Wheel Well Cover: Reattach the cover in the wheel well and secure it.
  2. Final Test: Perform a final test to ensure everything functions properly.

Additional Tips

  • Ensure all electrical connections are secure to avoid malfunctions.
  • Use the plastic prying tool to prevent damage to covers and components.
