Installation Guide for BMW 8 Series/M8 (2018-2022) DRL Boards
This guide outlines the installation process for replacing the DRL boards on BMW 8 Series/M8 (2018-2022) models. We offer CSL-Yellow, Red, Blue, and RGB variants. For a more straightforward installation, a variant with pre-mounted DRL boards on the heatsink (DRL module) is also available. For RGB+W variants, additional steps are necessary for installing the Bluetooth controller.
Note: Always consult your vehicle's manual or seek professional assistance if you are unsure about any step. Our DRL LED boards are designed to fit only original headlights and are not suitable for aftermarket headlights.
Inner DRL Boards Replacement
Tools Required
- Gloves
- Torx screwdriver set
- Drill (if you choose DRL boards only)
- Surface cleaner
- Double-sided adhesive or zip ties (for RGB+W variant)
Preparation
Ensure the ignition is off and disconnect the battery for safety. Use a car lift or jack to elevate the vehicle and gain better access to the wheel arch liners. For those who find the process of drilling out the original DRL boards daunting, we offer a convenient variant with pre-mounted DRL boards on the heatsink (DRL module). This simplifies installation and eliminates the need to disassemble the original boards, ensuring a more hassle-free transformation.
- Remove the push fixings from the front engine cover.
- Remove all T20 screws and carefully unplug the DRL module.
- Drill out the original rivets to remove the old DRL board from the heat sink.
- Clean the heat sink with a surface cleaner to ensure proper adhesion.
- Install the new DRL board and secure it with the provided screws.
- Reattach the DRL module and ensure all connections are secure.
- Reinstall the push fixings and any removed parts.
Outer DRL Boards Replacement
Additional Tools Required
- 8mm/10mm socket wrench
Preparation
Remove the front wheels to gain access to the wheel arch liners. Remove the wheel arch liners by taking off the 8mm/10mm screws.
- Remove the front wheels to gain access to the wheel arch liners.
- Remove the wheel arch liners by taking off the 8mm/10mm screws.
- Follow the same steps as the inner DRL board replacement.
- Ensure the outer DRL module is properly aligned and securely fastened.
Additional Step for RGB+W Variant
- Follow the included wiring instructions to connect the Bluetooth controller.
- Place the controller in the engine compartment, securing it with double-sided adhesive or zip ties.
- Ground the controller and connect the positive wire.
- Connect the controller to the DRL boards to enable Bluetooth control.
